Are the Cardinals set in the outfield?

Mo didn't add an outfielder at the deadline. The Cardinals have an abundance of infielders. Mo adds two more. Both Baez and Jordan are nice prospects. But, shouldn't he have tried to acquire a high ceiling outfielder, too?

I've read that they intend to convert Baez and Jordan to outfielders.

Donovan Scott Walker Nootbar and Burleson when Wetherholt comes up. Missing power but those are the 5 for next season. IMO too many LH but that’s what they chose

They drafted the HS kid Mitchell in the 2nd round this year. They will groom him for our CF spot.

None of those guys are on expiring contracts. If the major league roster is going to be remade, those types of deals take place in the offseason. Teams in the playoff race seldom trade from their MLB roster unless the player(s) they’re getting represent a significant upgrade. Was there anybody traded FROM a contender that made the non-contender better immediately? I look for Bloom to be active this offseason, moving pieces that are surplus or redundant for pieces he needs/wants.

O'Neill - 2017-2023, Bader 2017 - 2022, Carlson 2020- 2023. That's 6 yrs + of Tyler, 5 yrs + of Bader, 3 Yrs + of Carlson. This is the problem that should not be repeated. Trying to compete with an outfield devoid of a consistent contributor. Basically 5 years trying to evaluate three prospects that had some promise. An occasional streak and that would lock in another year. Injuries that pushed back the timeframe. Two years, three tops, on the ML roster should be sufficient time for professionals to evaluate what they have. I fear that we are seeing a repeat with Noot, Scott, and Walker. Trying to develop all three positions is just not gonna cut it. This team will never seriously be a contender again until they sign a bonafide producer, or two, for the outfield. Develop two at the very most at the same time. In my opinion Noot has had enough time. Get him outta there. Walker getting there fast, Scott I would give two more years. He is still a pup. This team will never seriously be a contender again until they sign a bonafide producer, or two, for the outfield.

Outfield has been bad for several years. Looks like that will continue after Mo waltzes out the door. Whole group of minor leaguers who never hit.
