2-3 more years is NOT acceptable. Bloom doesn't have that long. We've already been bad since 23, so thats 3 years. 3 more is not OK.

Boston went worst to first in a single year, twice. Why can't we do it in less than 6?

We have $75 million committed in contracts next season, and half of that is Gray’s last year. There is no excuse not to spend in the offseason, other than trying to become the Pirates.

yep money to get a number two pitcher yet 101 reported Good was informed by Cardinals it will be a "quiet" off season. With all the dry powder , how could you not do that this off season as worst case you could not pick up Grays 2027 option. Interesting is how no one on the 101 radio shows says hey they got the money they will get a 2. Its, they will get a one year rehab veteran starter...

DeWitt won’t allow Bloom to do what is needed to flip this quick. This is going to be a slow process where we see a ton of fan favorites getting a standing ovation when they return to STL as a visitor.

What do you mean “ get a 2”? Who’s #1? It sure as [shirt] isn’t Gray. He’s nothing more than a 3 at this point.

See how the cards have beaten down my expectations over the years... You are correct Sir.

Three words..pending work stoppage...

They'll never say it, but that is why they won't spend. Trades are a different story.

LOL...Getting mad because they won't totally scuttle the team is something a baby would do. They should plan on additions in the off season and competing next year, not 2-3 years from now. You have to sell tickets next year. You have no crystal ball, you don't know that they won't contend. They young guys take a step forward and no Fedde or Mikols makes a difference. Add a batter and a pitcher, bring up JJ and see what he has. Jojo is a big part of that. Very good lefty relievers are hard to come by.

And eroding their fan base in the process. 4D chess. Now let’s get those Busch Stadium renovations publicly financed!

Plenty of time this winter for C. Bloom to make deals.

Players like JoJo, Donny, Noot, Burly ect....can easily go then.

"We need some veteran certainty in the BP for next year"
"We don't have any other LHP"
"We really like what he brings to the clubhouse and the younger guys"

Can't really think of any other lame excuses but may be missing one or two.

With King possibly out for an extended period, trading 4 bullpen pieces would have been too much of a burden for our organizational pitching depth to fill. We have to fill 4 spots now and would have been 5 had we traded JOJO. Do you want to sacrifice development time for a trade that would have netted an uncertain return?

True. After Helsley, Matz, and Maton were traded, the bullpen was barren - not just for the rest of this season, but for next year also. JoJo is signed at a very reasonable deal for '26, and he was the last seasoned late inning reliever left. Even though the Cards will probably not be competitive next year, they will still need a bullpen not just staffed by kids and/or weak vets.

I understand fully why Romero was held on to. As for Donovan, Burleson, and Noot - as Mo explained - the Cardinals did not receive any acceptable offers. No need to trade them now for weak returns.

Hopefully Bloom will make some significant moves this winter.
