I don't understand these players

I don't understand these players who have no trade contracts wanting to stay with the cardinals on a ship that's going down, when they could be dealt to a contender.Players are vagabonds anyway during the season. I feel bad for their situation, but, why wouldn't they want to play for a chance to be in the playoffs? At least,Matz and Helsley are going to good teams, with a chance to go for a championship.

I understand Contreras. He's got his ring, and seems to be happy being everybody's favorite uncle here. I see his long game--grow some of the young Turks up.
But guys like Mikolas? I guess he knows he can be bad here and not be totally skewered by the papers. Gray? Well, for one, I think he'll bounce back. And I like having a veteran that's not Mikolas. Arenado? Probably overplayed his hand this past winter. I could be wrong, but I don't see how he's tradeable now.

they aren't machines. they are still people. Their families are here, their children are here and have probably made friends. They may own a house and like their lives here. Who knows the reason they are using their no trade. Not every player's sole purpose in life is to be on a contender.
they earned their no trade, the team agreed to it. So i hold nothing against them for wanting to stay

Players get skewered either way. If they take more money or ask for a trade go to a super team fans say they are weak and talk about the old days when players stayed with one team. If they invoke a no trade clause to stay where they are fans say they have no will to win.

players sign NTC's so that they have some say in where they go - everything else you have said is gibberish

I'm sure you don't understand most things. Life must be very difficult for you

If Mikolas was smart he'd want to be traded since he's not getting another (stupid) extension here.
Heyman reporting he change mechanics and has added +3 MPH to his fastball.
He's actually pitched well his last two starts and some team may have been interested in him as a #5 innings eater.
Go to that team, fool their GM like you did Mo (twice) and you might actually get a one year deal.

Or maybe, just maybe, since they are part of the organization and you aren’t, they feel this club is managed well and like playing for the organization. The storylines pushed by the rabble here doesn’t match the desire players who play here have to stay here, Helsley included.

Contreras likes being a Cardinal. He likes his leadership role on the team. He will be a fan favorite here. He is in a low-pressure situation. I understand his stance.
Mikolas has a chance to finish on an upbeat. I'm willing to bet if Miami unloads starting pitchers today, they may have interest in signing him this winter.
