Guardians closer Emmanuel Clase has been placed on non-disciplinary administrative leave through Aug. 31 as part of Major League Baseball’s ongoing investigation into sports betting, per a league announcement. Clase’s teammate, Luis Ortiz, was the first (and thus far only other) player placed on leave under the ongoing investigation. Clase will continue to be paid while the league looks into any alleged wrongdoing. He will not count against the team’s 40-man roster while on leave. ESPN’s Jeff Passan reported that Clase was being placed on leave shortly prior to MLB’s formal announcement

Cut a deal, gives them a bigger fish?

GREAT news for the Cardinals though as Helsley is now likely the best closer option on the market!

Looking at the time stamp he and I must've seen the news and were making our post about a minute apart.

But heck yea, good for the Cardinals for sure.

I know others (Bedard, ect...) are possibly out there but (IMO) w/a tweak from a smart pitching coach Helsley is now the top closer on the market.

better get something good for him!

Why would a player like clase risk their 20 million like that on this stupid stuff.

Ortiz at least hadnt yet made that much money in his career.

I'm not a gambler but my guess is it's like alcohol or drugs and they're addicted to the thrill it brings them.

But crazy indeed to risk that kind of money. ::crazya::

My fear too Jobu.

Our only hope is C. Bloom gets the final say.

He may e f f it up too, but we know Mo's going to (re: his worthless 2023 deadline moves).

Yeah you would think logically this deadline should be 100% Bloom's show, especially if they are selling and nothing really benefits 2025.

And def. dont think Bloom will be an error free savior, it is just time for a change in this stale org approach
