Not that I am unhappy with Wetherholt but I was really hoping he would have fallen to the Cards last year. I said then that he has a chance to be another Freddie Freeman.if I remember Crave felt the same way.

He’s looking very good, but his MLB K % is over 30%. It was about 25% in the minors. That’s similar to Gorman’s K % stats. It will be interesting to see if MLB pitching adapts after Kurtz’ rookie season like it did for Gorman, and whether Kurtz can make the necessary hitting adjustments.

Dude you’re stretching. He’s a rookie and barely did a pit stop in the minors.

The comp is horrific

He’s their new Giambi, except better

Meh. Homerun #4 was off an OF.

You’re comparing Kurtz to a roided to the gills Giambi and telling me my comp is terrible? It’s like most people that post here have never watched baseball. A 25% K rate in the minors followed by a 30% K rate in the majors means he’ll either need to cut his K rate drastically, increase his walk rate, or likely both. Next season will be telling.

Finished 6 for 6 with 4 homers and a double and 8 rbis. Gotta be close a record for total bases in a game or something.

You're funny.

He nearly skipped the minors. He played 31 games and struck out 23.8% of the time... hardly egregious. His statcast is bonkers. He's hitting like .360 with 15 HR and 38 RBI over the last month.

You're already late to the party, you don't need to be saying dumb things when you walk in. 8)

Nolan Gorman at Nick Kurtz's age:
.226/.300/.420 - 105 wRC+, 14 HR, 35 RBI in 89 games

Nick Kurtz:
.305/.374/.686 - 183 wRC+, 23 HR, 59 RBI through 66 games

I remember really liking him for the draft, the A's selected him right before we took JJ.

In his last 10 games, he's 23 for 40, with 10 double, 1 triple, 7 HR's and 17 RBI's, so 18 of his 23 hits in that span are XBH's.
In that 10 game hitting streak, his BA has risen from .252 to .305, his OB% from .330 to .374, his Slg. from .540 to .686 and his OPS from .870 to 1.060.
Yeah, that's a pretty nice week and a half, lol.

He went 4th, Cardinals drafted 7th

Cags and Hagen Smith went between them.

MLB.com current #1 prospect Konnor Griffin went 9th
