idk, seems like Bogaerts is the only real albatross contract... Machado will have earned most of that value by the time he's in full decline, and Tatis is still only 26.
The Cronenworth contract is bad but just in length, not AAV... it's just an unforced error to commit $12M+ per year to a JAG like him. But will hardly break the bank for them.
For pitchers they got Darvish, Musgrove and Pivetta under contract thru 2028, but none of them is making more than $20M per year. Darvish is bad enough now that they'll probably just have to release/eat that $50M sometime in the next year or two, but that's spread out over 3 years.

I give the owner and GM some kudos for at least trying to win a WS. You are right that they've whiffed a few times, but unlike the Cards owner/management - they try.
Can't hit if you don't take a swing.

Tried, spent and still no WS win...did they even make an appearance? LMAO.
Cards fan thinking Padres are better than the Cards...LMAO

Right. They showed passion and a sense of urgency… the owner wanted a win before he passed away (which unfortunately didn’t happen for him).
Hard to fault a team for going after it aggressively. It’s like when NLCards was ripping the Rangers for their spending saying it wouldn’t get them anywhere… then they win the World Series…

They at least have 4 playoff series wins since 2020. Cards have won 1 playoff series in the last decade.

But but but... did they win any WS? We all KNOW that's the ONLY thing that matters. Who cares if Oli and Marmol have run the organization into the ground? Who cares if a stadium that used to average 35k a night has dropped to half that. WE the CARDINALS baby have the most WS wins in the history of the NL.
Laughing at those who think ANY organization outside of the Yankees can hang with the mighty Cards. Dodgers only have 8. Psschh, that's still only single digits.
Don't mess with THE LOU.

Loser organization. Spend spend spend and nothing to show for it...except "trying" which seems to mean more to some supposed Cards fans...

And perpetually failing. No history of any championships...last time they sniffed a WS? 1988
What a wonderful, trying organization!
Apparently the Cards won 2...in the last twenty years. But let's celebrate the Pads

I was always on the fence with who was a better overall 3B in their career Machado or Nado, but boy oh boy Manny is still producing in the same age range.

I don't think age has anything to do with it. He's got something physically wrong with a shoulder or something that's zapped all his power.
As I've said many, many times, worst "superstar" acquisition Cards ever made.
