It seems Wetherholt is playing shortstop, predominately, at Memphis

I just don't understand that. With Winn so young and seemingly engrained at SS for the foreseeable future. Why not get Wetherholt more experience at 2B or 3B? One of the two are where he'll likely play for the Cardinals if Winn is still with the Cardinals.

Good observation. Wetherholt is a hot topic for a struggling Cardinals team.

Anticipating knee surgery for Winn? Or overall durability and longevity concerns so they’re planning on dumping him while he has value?

If he can play the more demanding position the move to a lesser position will be a snap.
If you had a quality OF in the minors and he was playing CF would you move him to a corner to show he can play it?????

If durability and longevity issues are a reason to dump Winn then they need to dump JJ also he fell in the draft because of hamstring issues and has already spent time on the IL this season with hamstring issues

I’ve always recognized his “potential” at the plate but questioned where he would fit defensively AND could he hit LH pitching enough to NOT be a platoon player????
