Arenado trade market frozen, ... again.

Frozen this time by Eugenio Suarez, now at the deadline and into the off season.
Bregman could also opt out and be a FA again after 2025, though doubtful he will get more than $41M a year he's owed in 2026 and 2027.
Arenado's salary is coming down. $22M in 2026 (plus $5M added by the Rockies) and $15M in 2027.
But these other options are just better.
Hope the Yankees continue to butcher their infield defense and would want an upgrade at 3B defense AND that Nado accepts a trade.

Add McMahon to your list.
It is believed that he is available.
Better glove and bat than N/A - and has 2 years of control left at just 15M per.

Dude can’t even hit that well while playing half his games in Coors. I don’t think I would say he’s a better bat than NA.
McMahon has a .589 OPS on the road this year and .664 OPS for his career on the road. Buyer beware.

I think, as if now, the OP is based on opinion. None of us know who is, or isn't interested in NA. I do know rhis. He can be had a lot cheaper than Suarez.

We can just claim that holding him is like signing a free agent, despite 20% of the payroll coming off the books again. We are just a small market team. Best we can do is Lane Thomas.

Arenado is a plus plus defender and a halfway decent bat.
He would represent an upgrade at 3B for many teams.
The problem(s)?
Assuming you can somehow get past his NTC his $$ are too high.
If the Cards are desperate they’ll have to kick back more $$.

I think if they are willing to accept little in the way of return talent they could do a deal. if they want something of interest in return then yeah gonna take some cash going with Nado. Would be a plus either way IMO in that Nado isn't getting younger and the team needs to figure out a younger player to take 3B for 2026 and on. And I like Nado. Never felt he didn't give it an honest effort or didn't want to win. He is just fading and this team doesn't need fading veterans at this time.

I looked... goNado is a below average hitter...90 OPS+ and while he was playing good D, he's now 10th in outs above average with 2
That's gotten worse too and he will continue to get worse.
He has 2 years of $35 million in salary left.
He's not going anywhere

I think that right now it is more about the cards lack of developmental success that is driving the issue. They just do not have anyone in the minors pushing the issue enough to force them to make a decision. If we had some hot shot in AAA with a bat that plays credible 3B defense pushing the team to play them, they would move Arenado as fast as they could and eat more money to do it. But, with the team not challenging for anything and no pressure to promote there is no need to eat any money. If the Yankees came along tomorrow and offered to trade a bag of balls for Arenado and full payment of his contract, they would get Arenado whatever he needed to make that deal. Just to get out of the contract. They can spot fill and work on the issue in the fall. Just no rush to do anything at this time.

I like him also. Especially his defense.
But his $$ are too high for his production plus his age is showing.
Let’s see if they can find a middle ground for a deal like you mentioned?

And the younger cheaper KeBrian Hayes. Areanado is at best 3rd on any teams list

Coors inflates home numbers and deflates road numbers
Been true for decades with data behind it
McMahon is younger, cheaper, better glove, better bat.
If shopped, he would produce more return than N/A.
Of course, that could be to STL,'s advantage.

90 OPS+. .679 OPS. Crazy numbers he's putting up for the money. Tough sell.
