Arenado
Supposedly the reason he wasn’t traded to the Yankees this off season was because the Yankees wanted the Cardinals to accept Marcus Stroman as part of the deal. Of course, Mo and DeWitt wanted no part of Stro’s contract and the deal never happened. Stroman hasn’t been good this year and has been injured, however, if the Yankees would still take Arenado, plus one or two of our relievers, would/should the Cardinals make that deal now, “ if “ they also get a good prospect as well as Stroman?

Turn the table. Trade them Helsley but force them to take Arenado as part of the deal.Hoosier59 wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 20:55 pm Supposedly the reason he wasn’t traded to the Yankees this off season was because the Yankees wanted the Cardinals to accept Marcus Stroman as part of the deal. Good tactic ! Put the ball in their court ! Whether it happens or not , you get an A for creative thinking on the deal .Jatalk wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 21:49 pmTurn the table. I also appreciate your creative approach, however, I’m afraid that bundling Nado into the deal would greatly decrease the return we would get for Helsley by himself.ramfandan wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 21:52 pmGood tactic ! Re: Arenado
Wouldn’t the Yankees want an offensive upgrade? Not a guy with a 92 OPS+ and .290 OBP

Re: Arenado
I would see what the cardinals could get for the relievers first by themselves because of you attach helsely to Arenado you arent getting a good return for himJatalk wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 21:49 pmTurn the table. Re: Arenado
I would argue it is more important in some ways to dump Arenado vs return on Helsley. With JJ coming up and Sagesse the infield is clogged.BrockFloodMaris wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 22:17 pmI also appreciate your creative approach, however, I’m afraid that bundling Nado into the deal would greatly decrease the return we would get for Helsley by himself.ramfandan wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 21:52 pmGood tactic ! Re: Arenado
The Dodgers are probably willing to overpay on Helsley. OK, let's see how much they are willing to return.
The Yankees defense is a big issue. Arenado could help them with that. Trading off NA before the deadline should be a Cardinal priority, and they should find a way to get that done. If that means packaging another player with him, ok. If that means taking back Stroman as part of the deal, at least consider it if you can't find better alternatives.

Re: Arenado
With JJ and Sagesse in the wings it may be worth to free up the 3rd base spot. Secondly I’m not sure what return we get for Helsley. He is a rental. Not quite as good as last year. Certainly need to add prospects but unclogging the infield has value also.Ozziesfan41 wrote: ↑24 Jul 2025 07:14 amI would see what the cardinals could get for the relievers first by themselves because of you attach helsely to Arenado you arent getting a good return for himJatalk wrote: ↑23 Jul 2025 21:49 pmTurn the table.
