Rather do it for Dominguez. Jones has great power but has good chance at being Joey Gallo. Dominguez is doing ok in majors and is just 22. Jones is 24 and just got called up to AAA. Also Dominguez is a switch hitter while Jones is left handed.
A deal of Donovan, Romero and Maton for Dominguez, Will Warren and Chase Hampton would give the Yankees a good shot at winning it all this year and next.
The Cards would get a player in Dominguez with a good shot at being a star, a good young starter in Warren and in Hampton a player who was their top pitching prospect before TJ in February.
Yankee fans and media down on Volpe and Dominguez and now see Jones as their new Mantle and Lombard as their new Jeter.
Reports out of NewYork are the Yankees are listening on Dominguez

Hard pass.
Have a proven thing with a few more years till FA. Likely won't sign yet can flip at some point. A Solid Clubhouse Citizen. Need more of his type. An asset.
Spencer. Yanks are in need of offense and Dominguez hasn't exactly been what they hoped. If they thought Spencer had a shot we would have seen him. Unproven at MLB level and has struck out at prodigious rates at lower levels. Some improvement. Matters not to me as a step up to The Bigggs will have him reverting back to Spencer KKK.
Yanks would do that deal in a heartbeat. No Thanks

that he is signed for two more years is one of the most attractive things about him.....
as his signed time diminishes, so does his value....he will probably never be more attractive than now...
