Cards hit Rockie Bottom, and I am glad

Mozeliak deserves for this catastrophic collapse, on his watch, to be his final sendoff.
All credit for what occurred from 2008 - 2022 was on the backs of the players Jocketty left behind (Pujols, Molina, Chris Carp, Waino), as well as the draft picks Jeff Lunhow left behind. As well as a hell of a coaching staff that was left behind for a few years.
Once all those players and coaches left or retired, we are left with 2023 - 2025. This is what a Mozeliak-run organization looks like. He's the President of Baseball Operations for nearly 10 years, and the Cardinals have absolutely grotesque and embarrassing baseball operations.
He doesn't deserve to ride off in the sunset a winner. Because he wasn't a winner. He was a hanger-on, taking credit for others' successes, while internally destroying what made everything great.
It wouldn't feel justified, if the Cardinals had a winning season or made the playoffs. He deserves to be the most hated sports executive in St. Louis sports since Keenan.
The Cardinals need to start a Hall-of-Shame where he can be front and center.

I mean…..I root for a magical season regardless of how much I hate someone on the team/in the FO. So while I sincerely hope that Mo gets a ticket for an Xbox controller driven submersible to see the titanic as part of his retirement package I can’t reasonably say i wanted the Cardinals to fail. Still was hoping for a solid season and at least the thought of a WS appearance

I believe that Mo is just the most visible “ Face “ of the Cardinal organization. He’s not the only one to blame, although he deserves his fair share. Walt was let go because the Cardinals were no longer going to be ran the same way anfter LaRussa left, and they certainly have not been. That’s why I hold no high expectations because Bloom is now going to be the “Face “ of the Cardinals. The DeWitt’s still control the purse strings and they keep a very tight grip on them. The one difference is maybe Bloom makes better decisions than Mo has.

A solid hopeful season WAS possible until a few weeks ago, but the complete and true idiocy running this chitshow once again wouldn’t let it happen.
Anyone with partial eyesight could see the BP pitchers Miles/Fedde along with Pallante were Loses waiting to happen. These idiots are NEVER Proactive , an anvil needs to be dropped on their heads and they still have no ability head off a disaster seen coming from 200 miles away

He should be wearing a red jacket some day. The results have been bad recently but over his tenure the team has had a lot of success.

So… they should have suddenly replaced 3/5 of their starting rotation 2 weeks ago? Who would be their replacements? Would that have somehow prevented them from being shutout by the Pirates?

I have been saying pretty much the same thing. One big problem with Mo is he doesn't seem able to admit when he has made a mistake. That is part of the reason he kept Fedde around so long and he is keeping Mikolas around.
Mo only hires yes men managers because he doesn't want anyone that works below him challenging his moves. He will never deserve to be in the cardinals hall of fame.

I get a kick out of these posts. I read everything here daily. Never, not once, have I read "Mo is getting a real deal, he's put together a pretty darned good team here!"
With that said. Yes, it does put kind of an explanation mark on where this team is going. Go in to Coors and not only lose 2 out of 3, but your team got shut out Mo. In Coors!

That was his biggest mistake. Thinking he could achieve perfect harmony. Conflict isn’t always a bad thing. A team in which key members have no real voice is just a puppet show.
TLR worked well with him but also challenged him when necessary. He should’ve remembered that lesson but his ego told him they would’ve still won his way without all the fuss.

Mo made some horrific blunders but he also made some good moves. Some of his teams had the talent that they should have fared much better than the end result. 2022 being the most recent and obvious.
If Waino hadnt completely Fallen apart in the last month of the regular season, things may have been different. But Mo also chose a rookie manager with no experience and that rookie manager committed two of the biggest pitching decision blunders I've ever seen by pulling Quintana after 73 pitches and trying to get two innings out of closer who had just jammed a finger on his throwing hand three days before.
Any manager with experience would have left Quintana in until he was no longer effective. And it's basically been all downhill since that night, and that all comes back to Mo.
I honestly used to think all of you Mo detractors we're nuts, but in the end you've been proven more than right.

Goldfan's post was hilarious. MO was roasted on 101.1 today for his poor handling of this situation. Listening to Oli in post game shows after Fedde's starts, it was pretty clear 3-4 starts ago, Oli no longer wanted him on the team. Indirectly, Wilson Contreras was saying the same thing by stating McGreevy deserved to stay. So, they could have replaced Fedde no later than the 7-0 loss to the Pirates on June 30. That would have saved them 3 of his starts. It is pretty clear they are also going to move Leahy into the rotation as well. They could have started that process in June. They also have Matz as a swing man and he could have been primed to start. It would not have been easy and may not have made a difference. But, it was possible for them to do that, yes.
They are likely to trade Helsley, Matza and Matton at the deadline. I am not so certain that Granillo, Graceffo, O'brien and Romero will not be equally successful in the back end of the bullpen. McGreevy and Leahy in the rotation in place of Fedde and one of Pallante or Mikolas may be an upgrade on the rotation. So, it is possible that the Cards sell at the deadline and are a better team after doing so because what they subtracted did not hurt them.
