not waive their NTC to go to a team that has a good chance to make a deep run in the playoffs? Do they now prefer just making the big bucks, while being in a comfortable setting, over getting a decent chance to be a on really competitive team?

A few years ago I had a job opportunity in another city halfway across the country. It was a big decision, it was a better job and slightly more pay.

But the wife and I have family here, our kids go to school here and have friends here. We're comfortable here and didn't think we would enjoy living in this new city (it was in Texas, we're not Texas people lol).

So I decided to say no and stay here.

Sometimes you do what's best for your family over careers. They have a NTC for a reason. Uprooting is hard to do, especially when you're not planning or wanting to live in that city long term.

For some, winning isn't everything

Simply business.

What additional form of compensation can one parlay that NYC into. That is what it is all about. Few desire to stay in a place they aren't wanted. But most desire to have some control over how and where they may go.

Arenado will waive but only to a team he wants to go to I don’t blame him for that. Gray I don’t know I’m assuming he likes it here and doesn’t want to play anywhere else. Contreras he wanted to play here signed to play here wants to stay here. Posters like 45s lie and say players don’t want to play here but they don’t want to leave nothing wrong with that then says wouldn’t want a player who doesn’t want to win he’s just mad players keep leaving Houston and don’t want to play there

I would not want a player who is not committed to winning….

I do think at a certain point in your life comfort starts to take over, either comfort at the job you are at or the city you live in.

While winning is important to players, I think comfort and caring for their families is more.

There is a reason Mike Trout or Andrew McCutchen refuse to leave their teams that don't win or aren't committed to winning

Gray hated his time in NY and big markets. He want to stay in Midwest. It would take a trade to a contender like the Cubs to get him to accept

Probably right on that. But I never complain about a player wanting to stay in St. Louis

No Texas for me either!
As for Nado , St. Louis isn’t really his home area nor family. Him and his wife young daughter not in school yet.
In offseason, the Arenado’s return to Southern Cal. Where they reside plus they have a townhouse in Phoenix area next to Rockies training complex.

If the Csrds are on the hook anyway for his salary, why don’t the Csrds just eat a major portion of his salary and get him traded. You would think at least one of the teams on his no trade list would give up something if they didn’t have to pay him much.

I would not want a player who is not committed to winning….

We are not the Rockies or the Pirates. We are over 500.

I would not want players who would quit on a team that’s only the 60th percentile and decided that they can’t help that team climb the ladder towards the top.

Apparently, you’ve never really seen a true losing franchise up close. Nado has.
