Toxic Marmot

Just.moments after I provided brilliant analysis in another thread of just how badly coached this team is by providing numerous examples from the first 2 games of this series, the players graciously provided even more
Donovan stupidly throwing home on a play where he had zero chance of getting the runner and instead gifted the batter with first base ultimately handed AZ 3 runs.
Mikolas, with.2 outs and no one on base, offered a meatball HR to Suarez the 2nd time up when the game situation required that Miles pitch around him
2 key moments
2 extremely stupid decisions
Bad coaching on full display.
The Marmot is toxic to fundamental baseball.

How are mental errors and lizard pukes horrible pitching on Oli?
Smellville is a [fork]ing idiot.

How was the immortal Pedro Pages' catching ERA Friday and Saturday?

Note what just happened.
AZ took the sure out at 1B and let the run score from 3B.
Not giving away outside prevents big innings.
AZ made smart decision and limited STL to one run.
STL made a stupid decision and gave away three.
And yes, that is 100% on the coaching staff.
Folks, this stuff ain't hard
I appreciate the game itself proving my perfect point

They had no other play (bleep). Argo scored on Hurdy Gurdy weak dribbler.
You do realize how fast Argo is and he's going on contact?
They were up by 4

How are mental errors and lizard pukes horrible pitching on Oli?
Smellville is a [fork]ing idiot.
It starts with leadership. Oli isn’t providing it.

Not to mention playing the infield in with a pitch-to-contact pitcher in the 1st inning with nobody out. They were just asking for a big inning.
Yes, Donovan should have thrown to 1B instead of home. The manager's bad decision created the situation for the player to make a bad decision.

I didn't like the Donovan play either but a decision like that has to basically be already made. If it comes to me, what am I going to do? If the ball was hit a little harder, maybe he has a play there. But what I wouldn't want him to do is hesitate and not get anyone or sail his throw.
Of course it didn't matter once Suarez cleared the bases.

I couldn't f'in believe it. Worst time in the world to play the infield in. This isn't a matter of monday morning quarterbacking, it's just fundamentally poor baseball strategy.

What's crazy to me is it's been a decade and we are still allowing Suarez to murder us.

No outs, bottom first, you NEVER bring your infield in. Not only is it a stupid move strategically but it sends a bad message to the team.

I cant say anything good about Oli, but I cant agree with your points either. Oli didn't tell BD to throw to home, and BD has been playing long enough to know the situation.
As for Mikolas. Do you really think the dugout called for a meatball down the middle?

Both your points are spot on.
I will add another.
I know exactly what Donovan was thinking.
Mikolas is on the mound due to his contract.
No other reason.
And, the offense for STL has all but disappeared.
Donovan was thinking that STL most certainly could not fall behind so early in the game - not even one run.
And so, he tried to be the hero by attempting an impossible play.
Zero confidence in his pitcher, zero confidence in his manager, zero confidence in his teammates after getting annihilated in 2 straight.
Which compelled him to make a stupid choice.
Yes, that is on The Marmot.
