How about one pitcher on this staff have the balls to knock this guy down instead of throwing batting practice to the guy? It won't happen but I'd love to see it but wimp Oli will sit in the dugout grinning about getting swept after the all star game! Miles biggest problem to me isn’t as much his “stuff” but his arrogance and stupidity.
He seems to fancy himself as a clone of Kyle Hendricks?
Keeping hitters off stride with an assortment of junk mostly featuring off speed stuff.
The problem??
Hendricks is 50 times smarter than Mikolas!
He mixes it up inside and out and rarely grooves one.
He relies on hitters trying to “jack” everything without using the whole field.
Miles just telegraphs his garbage curveball and they sit back and crush it when he leaves it up over the middle. Which is quite often!
Mikolas can throw 94-96 but he rarely does.
He arrogantly tosses up that cute curveball (bleep).
Plus....I don’t think he’s playing with a full deck of cards???

If you try to knock them down you can hit them and of course hitters are comfortable facing MM he sucks and with MM velocity he isn’t going to terrify anyone even if he throws inside

Correct. Looking back at all the pitches thrown to Suarez in this series, there were only TWO pitches thrown out of the strike zone inside. Both were only slightly up and in - nothing to make him uncomfortable. He fouled one off vs Pallante. The other was a generous called strike Mikolas got on the second pitch of Suarez' first AB yesterday.

I have been posting about this approach the Cardinal pitchers are using for a long time. Opposing pitchers throw up and in to Arenado, and especially Contreras, all the time. Contreras leads the league in HBP, mostly getting hit on his hands or wrist. Yet the Cards' pitchers just avoid pitching up and in, and the opponents' batters know this, and dig in and rake.

Get rid of Marmol and Dusty, and get a different approach.
