It’s like the fire went out of this team 3 weeks ago

The fire left the Cards players when they learned their efforts would be ignored and no improvements would be coming at the deadline. The Cards owners are serious about a cheap roster construction and budget no matter what. This will continue to be dreadful for seasons to come. Welcome to the St. Louis Rays

I don’t think the fire went out a team can play above its talent level for a while but it isn’t sustainable the talent was never there. The rotation was never going to be able to pitch as well as it was MM was going to turn back into a pumpkin. I also think liberatore will hit an innings wall later in the season and regress. If it were the case they gave up after they heard nothing was coming every player sucks anyway and would too stupid to win anything anyway

That’s a slap in the face to the Rays! Have they ever been this bad?
I do agree though, they’ve lost their fire and have taken on the attitude of Ownership.

They were overachieving. Looking at individual performances compared to their record never made sense.

It doesn't explain why two of our best starters continually throw the ball down the heart of the plate. This seems more nefarious to me. Were they told to? I've seen some ugly games but two pitchers, one decent and another top tier pitcher both throwing meatballs down the heart of the plate right after the all-star break seems very peculiar.
