Yes in the end it looks like a steal. I was trying to comp the positions and ages, too, though. Renteria was entering his age 22 season and was coming off his first AS season. There really isn’t a pure comp for it because I also think that the minor leaguers/prospects are far more valuable nowadays than they were back then. Easily one of his best trades.Jocketty was very good at selling high on prospects instead of letting their value crater then dealing them. He got an 18-7 all star season out of Kent Bottenfield knew that wasnt going to happen again and traded him for Edmonds Mo would have never done that.
In that case, maybe Jeremy Peña this past offseason would be better.
