Tv deal

In a recent article Mozeliak was quoted as saying he hadn't done a deep dive into the tv deal and attendance and how that has impacted revenue. As director of baseball operations that's not his job. That's the DeWitt family and whoever is working for then on the financial side.
In think lower attendance is directly related to the change in TV availability. Cardinals used to be part of my basic package on DirecTV. Now it's an extra fee. Having the games on TV is the best way to promote the team.
I'm clueless as to how these broadcasting rights deals work. I wonder if providing the games to multiple satellite and cable companies for a much lower fee is a viable option so that Cardinals baseball would be widely available on basic cable and satellite packages. It would certainly boost attendance but how that would impact the bottom line isn't publicly known. How many subscribers are paying the $20 a month and how much money have they lost from the decline in attendance?
Matheny's final full season 2017 the team averaged 42,567. Now 29,465. That has to be significant in revenue from ticket sales and concessions.
2017 team won 83 games. This year's team on pace to win 85. Similar win/loss.

I am a cards fan on Tennessee. I am considered in reds abd braves market. My cable company cares neither. I have the mlb package. When the cards play reds or braves the games are blacked out in mlb. I can listen on KMOX only
All teams don't care about fans as much as they say. Look at all the side deals to watch games. Roku and Appletv

Shouldn't the President of Baseball Operations be involved in every aspect involving the team? At least enough to know the revenue situation? Good grief, what the [fork] does this putz do?

I have not been as critical of this guy as many…
but as time has gone on , I’m convinced…
How does he plan to be active at the deadline if he doesn’t how much money he has to work with?
Remarkable

Why not ask Doug Armstrong? He is to the Blues what Mo is to the Cardinals. Chris Zimmerman handles the business side. Mo’s (soon to be Bloom’s) job is to oversee baseball operations. BDWIII handles the business side. Mo KNOWS the revenue situation. He knows when the budget is set at a certain amount. However, it’s not his job to do a “deep dive”.

I'm sure he can see the empty seats.
IF he did know all the way down to the exact penny, wouldn't somebody else tell him what
he can spend?
To me the POBO should focus on the product. In theory the better the product
the better the revenue.

Checking revenue totals isn't some deep dive operation.

Its simply checking a figure. The pobo should know this.

MLB and the owners have done great damage to the game with their stupid tv, streaming, blackout areas, etc. the only sports league as stupid as MLB is the NHL. Availability to view games only helps the image and builds fan support.

It is not only remarkable, it is totally unacceptable.
