Just do something

Buy or sell. IDC. Either go big and obtain a RH power bat and a TOR SP or sell all the pending FA. Don’t do nothin or just a marginal move. Standing pat is the worst thing ownership can do.

Agree they should be aggressive…..Youboughtit wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 14:00 pm Buy or sell. IDC. Either go big and obtain a RH power bat and a TOR SP or sell all the pending FA. Don’t do nothin or just a marginal move. Standing pat is the worst thing ownership can do.
You're setting yourself to be letdown because you're not paying attention to what they're saying. They're doing nothing of significance. Mozeliak is running the show, said he doesn't want to do anything that will impact future years, is mostly focused on pending FA's but even then, he's waiting until about 72 hours remain before thinking about what to do, and doesn't really want to move Helsley.Youboughtit wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 14:00 pm Buy or sell. Noot? Walker? See the thing is to sell you have to have a buyer. Who wants those two or who is going to give up much for those two?imadangman wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 14:42 pm Open up to dealing Noot or Walker, maybe even a prospect like Crooks if the right buy/sell trade is here. This deadline is going to have a lot of good baseball trades that that don't fit the traditional buyer/seller template. Trades that help both sides.
What would it take to acquire Eugenio Suarez and Merril Kelly? I think both are rentals (??). Could you give up a Chase Davis and maybe another prospect or two for them?Youboughtit wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 14:00 pm Buy or sell. IDC. Doing nothing is preferable to doing something stupid, of which there have been a lot of examples.Youboughtit wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 14:00 pm Buy or sell. IDC. You make a point that many fail to grasp. There’s an assumption we’re going to sell off unproven or underperforming players and get some huge haul of prospects that are going to help us contend within 1-2 years. This team needs to compensate for recent failures by upping payroll. Otherwise brace for 4-5 years of losing as it will get worse before it gets better.Jatalk wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:15 pmNoot? Wetherholt will be at 2B next season. Donovan to LF. If they add to fill the giant hole in RH OF that leaves Walker Gorman Burleson Herrera and Nootbar as DH. Use 3 of them as trade peices along with possibly Aranado Helsley and Maton. They have plenty of peices to rearrangeCorneliusWolfe wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:36 pmYou make a point that many fail to grasp. See my post below. Weatherholt to 2B Donovan to LF leaves Gorman Walker Burleson Nootbar and Hererra at DH. Add pending FA Maton Helsley and possibly Aranado and they have plenty of moveable peicesCardinals4Life wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:26 pmWhat would it take to acquire Eugenio Suarez and Merril Kelly? This would allow you to move Nado (in a separate deal) AND still upgrade the offense in doing so. Kelly gives you a stronger, steady rotation piece. Bring up McGreevy and then you have a rotation of Gray, Kelly, Liberatore, McGreevy, and Pallante.
Move Fedde for whatever you can get. Move Mikolas or DFA.
Keep Maton and Helsey. Maybe add 1 more bullpen piece. Probably keep Matz as well.
This gives you a chance to win down the stretch, sheds some dead weight, and keeps a relatively clean slate still for next year.
Or they have to play everyday here for another year. How do you feel about that?Jatalk wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:15 pmNoot? Walker? See the thing is to sell you have to have a buyer. But I don’t see anyone on the roster than will bring a hitter and a top pitcher…
Maybe Winn and Herrera..but do they really move them?
Arenado NTC w/high salary so no prospect return because BDW won’t eat salary, Helsley a rental on a down year. Otherwise only Donovan and Maton have real value. Herrera too but we’d be trading a much needed RH power-bat with years of control. The others are pretty much worthless at this point.Youboughtit wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:46 pmWetherholt will be at 2B next season. Donovan to LF. I call that shuffling the deck. It's badly needed here.Youboughtit wrote: ↑16 Jul 2025 16:49 pmSee my post below.
