Most talk on Doyle naturally but did Cards also get the steal of the draft ?

MLB sure liked him. Though a reliever some think the 6-5, 225 lb pitcher will get first look as potential starter. Grade 70 fastball is nice to start

I love that they took some power pitchers. Hopefully it pans out

I think his floor and ceiling are as high as Doyles. If he's stayed at Tenn, he would been a starter the coming season

Tennessee's coach was on 101espn yesterday. He said they had to completely remake him when he came to campus. Completely reworked everything starting with his fastball and his secondary pitches didn't get much focus. That's how he went from 20%bb to 5%bb. Said it was the right thing longterm for him but it probably hurt his draft value because of how underdeveloped his secondaries were. He would have been their 1 or 2 starter next year. If the Cardinals can get his secondary pitches worked out then he has ace ceiling. His fastball looks like it teleports when it's on.

Someone mentioned the Cards took him way
too early.
I cannot remember who it was.
Opinions all over the place.
I'd say they had one hell of a draft.

He is a high risk / high reward pick was who selected above rank.ramfandan wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 23:06 pm https://redbirdrants.com/mlb-network-la ... -the-draft

Great fastball with command issues on his secondary pitches.
Equal chance of being steal and bust.
The pick which most interests me is Mitchell, SS drafted as an outfielder.
The outfield has been a disaster for the Cardinals for the past decade, and his 60 grade hit tool is something the organization really needed to add to its system.

Mitchell is an Alec Burlinson, Erich Church, Brendan Donovan, Chase Davis, Matt Koperniak, hitter: Left-handed with limited power potential. Along with their 3rd round pick, they are well-stocked in that department.Melville wrote: ↑15 Jul 2025 08:25 amHe is a high risk / high reward pick was who selected above rank.ramfandan wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 23:06 pm https://redbirdrants.com/mlb-network-la ... -the-draft

sounds like STL should be trying to hire some of those TENN coaches to put into our systembillybaseball wrote: ↑15 Jul 2025 08:11 am Tennessee's coach was on 101espn yesterday. FWIW, most of the mock drafts had Doyle going earlier than 5th overall.

No, he wouldn’t have been their 1 or 2 next year. I went to UT and follow everything about that program. Franklin throws heat with no movement and his secondaries suck. He won’t ever be more than a BP piece.billybaseball wrote: ↑15 Jul 2025 08:11 am Tennessee's coach was on 101espn yesterday. He said they had to completely remake him when he came to campus. Living here in Tenn. I had some previous info on Mitchell. He was the Tenn. Gatorade Player of the Year . I watched highlights of him a few times.Melville wrote: ↑15 Jul 2025 08:25 amHe is a high risk / high reward pick was who selected above rank.ramfandan wrote: ↑14 Jul 2025 23:06 pm https://redbirdrants.com/mlb-network-la ... -the-draft

Liked his hard hit balls and he sure could motor out of the box . Liked his hustle . Think with his speed he could play CF in The Show. Germantown is a bit east of Memphis so I was bit too far (3 hours plus ) to watch him in person but all the clips I saw sure looked good.
