OT: Junior Caminero, bad trades

We all like to lament bad trades made and not made…

I’m pretty confident that the odds are high that the Guardians trade of an 18 year old Junior Caminero for Tobias Myers… who they ended up designating for assignment… may go down as their worst ever.

Caminero is a beast.

Agree.
Dodgers traded Yordan Alvarez for RP Josh Fields. Ouch

The Guardindians have some notably horrible trades in their history.

Traded Shoeless Joe & Roger Maris

Brian Giles trade was a corker too…

Yeah, imagine Giles still there with Lofton and Manny in the outfield. That team was so loaded.

Which is why the Cardinals should be trading as many vets as they can for young prospects. We know the vets won’t be around by the time the Csrds sniff a playoff run so shoot for the stars in toolsy prospects in low minors in other organizations.

Only if we properly scout those prospects and target them.

And then it doesn't matter if we trade a vet or trade Gorman or trade Graceffo to get that prospect. If its the right one, just get it done. Don't just take random chances on the shotgun approach and hope it hits.

Hey remember when Moneyball told us how valuable Ricardo Rincon was?

Completely agree. You’ll win some and lose some but you’ll lose all you don’t try.

In theory the more you apply this principal they better you get.

Cards worst trade was Carleton to the Phillies for Rick Wise over a contract dispute which the difference was a mere pittance by today's standards.

Almost every other MLB team has a collection of athletic Latin players……except Cards
Mo is a historic failure.
