I read an article on line which listed the worst managers for each franchise. Worst manager in the history of the Texas Rangers...Whitey Herzog.
The man is worshipped in STL.

The difference is that in STL, he had good players. In Texas, he did not.

Must be a great franchise if their worst manager was a guy who worked for them for less than a year coming off a 100 loss season before they hired him.

so.....you are suggesting that the better the roster, the smarter the manager??

Whitey wrote about his time in Texas. Owner dictated poor mandates and gave him less than a full season. There's a reason the Rangers didn't see the post season until the 90s.

In StL, Gussie Busch allowed him to form the roster and manage his way. Big difference.
