Liam Doyle was the right pick, is a good pick, and will be producing in STL sooner rather than later.

Close to ready talent.

SMH....I sure hope so!
I had no idea who the Cards should pick but I have seen Doyle listed as a top 5 prospect in most rankings.
However....in the less than 3 hours since being drafted I have learned from Cards Talk that:
* He may have an eating disorder?
* He may have attitude issues?
* He may have no secondary pitches?
* He may have temper problems or even be a borderline psychopath?

Yikes!!!
What does that say about the guys ranked behind him?????

I read that scouts think his secondary pitches are fine. I also saw where he is near mlb ready (lets see). No idea about his food consumption. But I hope he is a nut job. This team needs some real attitude.

I see a lot of people acting like this is a horrible pick and I don't get it. I said it in the draft thread, but he was the #8 prospect in the draft, according to Baseball America. So, let's say BA is 100% right with their rankings. Is there a huge difference between where the Cardinals drafted and taking the #8 prospect? But in reality I'm sure every team's draft board looks pretty different.

And reading up on Doyle he has the highest ceiling out of any college pitcher in the draft. Yes, he's not as safe as a few of the other college pitchers taken around him, but we have done the safe thing for how long now? We have a brand new minor league system. I like that they're doing something different. And he shoots right up to #2 in our top 10 prospects.

I get it if you follow this stuff and would have preferred another player and are disappointed that they didn't go that route, but I don't understand how anyone could be really upset about this pick.

I like it. A near ready hard throwing stud. Prefer a Righty but what are you gonna do. While I recognize the potential value in them they seem to flake out at a higher rate.

Who is Next?

Some goof has a thread today that he had to lose 19 pounds his last season LOL.
No reason to rush him of course.
If he stinks he’ll be called a “nut job”.
If he’s great he’ll be called “colorful”!

I don’t know squat about his potential.
But apparently some sitting in their living rooms know all about his potential?????

The Cardinals as we speak are boring. Blah!
There is not anything boring or Blah about him.

If they make him trevor rosenthal then the pick is likely awful or mismanaged.

You can often find a way to close , without paying hundreds of millions, but a quality number 2 starter costs how much? And cards had the pick of all but one pitcher in the country. They need a number two starter, basically always, and they think this guy has the upside to do it. Basically his floor is fallback to closer. They need his ceiling.

I think we can give him at least a few weeks to decide his future?

The Cardinals were looking for some pitching attitude too. They drafted some.
