If we do, they better have big frames and top end FBs. No more 5-11 frames like Bryan Holliday last year, or shoulder stressing change up specialists.

In the 2021 MLB Draft, the Los Angeles Angels (formerly known as the California Angels) made history by selecting pitchers with all 20 of their draft picks, a strategy never seen before in a full-length draft. This was driven by their need to bolster a weak pitching pipeline under general manager Perry Minasian. Of those 20 pitchers, two have reached the MLB level with the Angels as of July 2025:
1. **Sam Bachman** (1st round, 9th overall pick, Miami University): Bachman debuted with the Angels but has faced challenges with injuries. He has since been optioned to the minors and is not currently ranked among the Angels’ top prospects.
2. **Chase Silseth** (11th round, University of Arizona): Silseth was the first player from the 2021 draft class to reach the MLB, debuting in 2022. He has had multiple stints with the Angels, posting a 5.84 ERA in six major league starts in 2022, but has also been optioned back to the minors and faced durability issues.
Unfortunately, the other 18 pitchers from this draft class have not yet made it to the MLB with the Angels. Three were traded (Ky Bush, Landon Marceaux, and Mason Albright), and one (Marcelo Perez) did not sign. The remaining pitchers have either struggled with performance, injuries, or are still developing in the minors, with none ranking among the Angels’ top 20 prospects according to recent evaluations. The strategy, while bold, has been widely criticized as a flop, with experts noting a lack of high-upside talent emerging from this group.[](

That’s what the Pirates have been doing for several years now. Let’s see how that works. Leauges worst offense

There are a couple of bats who I would consider if they are still on the board when STL picks next.
