Jo Jo retired one batter in the 7th. The first two batters in the 8th were left handed. Why in the world wouldn’t he leave JoJo in for the first two batters and then bring in Maton.

Because he is severely lacking as far as in game tactics.

The answer to your question is the question itself? Oli!

Why is ANY pitcher throwing anything remotely HR hittable to Murphy? The guy is killing the CArds and a floating belt high mid to inner plate is what sailed out to LF

because TLR changed the way managers manage their bullpens

The script says Maton in 8th and Helsley in 9th.
Nevermind that LH batters have hit .247 .336 .419 .755 against Maton over his career and .175 .270 .259 .529 against Romero over his entire career.

Doesn't mean he was right. In fact, TLR often wasn't. I don't know how many times he ran a reliever out to warm up after finishing the previous inning, just to give the next reliever a few extra pitches in the bull pen and show off what a big brain he had. Maybe, just to sell a few more beers, but I don't think so. Then, when it backfired it really chapped my (donkey). I never fired up an O/P about it on this site, but I certainly yelled at the TV, or radio0, or the dog, or my wife and kids. (Not in a bad way).

Excellent point.
I figured Romero would open the 8th. Went away for a minute and came back to Profar on 2B.
Maton then nibbled with Acuna(only the tying run) but challenged Murphy down central(winning run).
As for Oli?
Four years have shown he just doesn’t have it upstairs.

I have been wanting Oli gone for a number of seasons now. I will certainly acknowledge that he has subtly improved, but then he reverts. Just when you think he is finally getting it he goes back to paint by numbers with no feel for the game. The lineup choices are the same. Just when you think he is finally learning to ride the hot hand, he will pull a head scratcher. Sigh....
