How long before McGreevy and Roby in the rotation?

The Cardinals would, probably, be just as good off for now. And they would be helping to build next season's staff and beyond. It could be Mathews instead of Roby. But it seems Roby might be more ready for the opportunity. Even it's for five innings a start.

I was about to say, didn’t we just do this discussion? But I was wrong — it was Matthews, not McGreevy

I say we remake Groundhog Day as we have the perfect person to fill Bill Murray’s part!

What are your thoughts on McGreevy and Roby replacing Fedde and Mikolas in the rotation?

McGreevy after the deadline. Even if they don't trade Fedde or Mikolas they will make room. Roby next year if he remains healthy.

I suspect they trade Fedde and McGreevy takes his place. My guess is they have Mikolas make starts until the bitter end this year.

If Roby keeps pitching well at AAA. Roby just might get a spot start/starts later in this season. Kind of like they did with McGreevy last season.

In my opinion, the only way Roby sees St Louis this year is if he drives up after the season. I don't think there is anything performance-wise that he can do to change that. A rash of injuries might make things different.

Roby sure hasn't allowed many runs lately at AAA. And he's recorded quite a few innings. You are right, it might come down to if injuries create an opportunity later this season.

Some pertinent stats relating to the OP.
"In games started by Fedde and Mikolas Cards are 13-22 (.371)
In all other games Cards are 35-21 (.625)". - That's A Winner Podcast

Agree.
Remember this because Shady will post it again tomorrow. Hopefully only once a day thereafter.

How long do you think Roby and McGreevy are? Do you think one is longer than the other?

What are your thoughts on McGreevy and Roby replacing Fedde and Mikolas in the rotation?
Fair question. I don’t know that they’re quite ready for MLB, however, you have an undeniable point about Fedde and Mikolas. At the beginning of the season I accepted the fact the team was in transition, so I wasn’t expecting much. They’ve been better than I thought, so I absolutely understand the desire to push harder and go for it, however, I can’t shake the thought they’re not quite there yet. Given that, I’m ok with letting the kids develop and letting the vets take the lumps.
Am I mistaken? Possibly — my wife will tell you I’m often wrong!

The conservative part of me says maybe next year.
