When did they stop doing it? Only go to a game or so per season but thought they were still doing it last year. Took my 13 and 16 yr old and they were hoping to see a home run for the fireworks if nothing else. Then Contreras hits one and nothing but flashing lights on the scoreboard. Is this a new phenomenon? And if so I wonder if it has to do with not wanting to blow the money with reduced attendance

I remember they suspended fireworks after 9/11 but restored them in 2002. Maybe in 2025 they figured the fireworks were scaring fans away.

they still have fireworks after homers - maybe you were in the wrong stadium ?

I told my wife that I almost guaranteed it was because of lack of attendance. They're not going to blow 500 bucks on that number of fans I guess

There were no fireworks after Contreras' home run last night

There were fireworks after the two home runs on Tuesday. There have also been fireworks after home runs at other games. If they have stopped doing it, last night must've been the first night.

Yeah there were a bunch of people by me in the stands groaning about it. Especially ones with kids. Like I said they did a bunch of fancy flashing lights on the scoreboards and the tickers but that was it

Well I started this thread and I have all games set to Auto record so I went back and watched that home run after seeing it in person and although I hate to give the benefit of the doubt to ownership, I believe there were no fireworks after that shot because it was questionable at the time if it was actually a home run or came off the top of the wall.

So for the first time ever I will apologize to ownership for accusing them of being cheap

I was at the Thursday night game, too. The usher told us the reason they didn't shoot fireworks off after the homer was due to it being disability pride night. Apparently, some people with disabilities don't like fireworks?

Was at the Cubs game June 24th when they hit 3 homers. Definitely had fireworks then.
