good morning all,

the loss of a pet (family member) isn't easy. I could use a little pick me up. This morning (3 hours ago). My best buddy Nuggy, our 16 year old healthy cat curled up next to me, and passed away

I don't even know why im posting this here to be honest. My wife and i lead a pretty secluded life so i guess i don't have a lot of people i could even tell.

anyway, hopefully we can get a cards win today. i could use something.

If you respond, i apologize if i don't reply, i'm not sure if i'll be back on today

god bless

As you know, I recently put down my cat. First time ever. The fact that he died in your lap is as his lasting and parting gift to you. You have closure.

My cat went out to die, but didn’t. Morning came, I found him in the garage. Laying there. About gone. I knew it was time.

Of course it will get better. Everyone says that. It’s true. Get another one. Best remedy.

You’re not alone.

Sorry man. I’m a dog person and treat my dogs like family. I know how much this sucks.

Know how you feel. Lost our adopted one eye cat Boo a few months ago as he had a seizure and died at my feet at age three. He always laid on the floor next to me while I worked from home at my desk. It was shocking as he was in good health and active but was gone within a few minutes. His death hit me harder than the death of my mother as she was 92 and suffering from dementia and sepsis when she died. She was in agony for weeks so death was a blessing for her.
We had him cremated and have his ashes in an urn. He was afraid to go outside the home so I couldn’t bring myself to bury him outside with the other cats we have had over the last 35 years here.

Sorry to hear about your loss. Like many I have a very similar story about an animal friend I had. He was a cat who lived to be 18 and moved from IL to CA with me. When he passed I was a wreck. Luckily my then GF now wife helped me through!

I offer you support from this stranger who loves animal friends and the Cardinals too!

Very sorry for your loss.
Have lost three pups and one cat.
What helped me was getting another pup. Time has dulled the pain, but the good times are still vivid.
Be well.

As a fellow animal lover, my condolences. I wish our animal friends lived longer lives.
I'm sure you provided a great life.

Hate to hear that, condolences. We have a cat in it's last year or so in our house. Sounds like at least yours went peacefully. Hoping the same for ours and that we know when it's time to put her down.

Very very sorry for your loss!
We have cats and we love them dearly.
Twice we had to make the difficult decision to put cats down as they were faced with illness and suffering.
It haunts us to this day but we believe we ended their suffering.
It sounds like your cat passed peacefully. That is a blessing.
Thoughts and prayers with you!

It seems we share a lot of common stories of loss.

Last December, we had scheduled a vet to come to our house on a Monday to put our 15 year old Chihuahua to rest. Instead, 3 days beforehand, he passed away lying on the couch with my two kids, the two people who loved him best.

Best wishes to you and your family.
