Exactly.. they won’ start his ‘service time clock’ til 2026,
Doing so would cost them millions reaching free agency one year sooner.

Position players as of today:
Young “keepers”- Donovan, Winn
Young “probable keepers”- Herrera, Burleson
Veteran “keeper”?- Contreras
Veteran “on the fence”- Arenado, Nootbaar
TBD- Gorman, Walker, Scott, Saggese, Pages, Pozo

Obviously some holes to fill after the keepers.
Excited about Wetherholt and the two Catchers(Crooks and Bernal) for 2026!
Getting there but nice if a couple emerge from the TBD list.
Still have some time to find out.

Great news! It’s well earned. I say let the man cook in Memphis the rest of the season, send him off to the Arizona fall league and if all goes well give him every opportunity to make the opening day roster out of spring training next year.

The fortunate part is we really don’t need to rush him to the majors as long as we have a backlog of infielders on the roster. If he doesn’t impress between now through next spring there’s no harm in keeping him in Memphis for awhile.

It'd have to be some injuries and him crushing it at Memphis for him to get a callup in 2026, and they'd certainly do what they did with Winn to preserve his rookie eligibility.

I'm still on record thinking he's the opening day 2B in 2026.

So you think he’s going to have to crush it at Memphis and there be some injuries to get a callup next year and yet you think he’s the opening day 2B?

Hopefully, they’ll move Baez up there soon so they can get a better idea if he’s the real thing.
It’s 99% certain that Wetherholt is a real thing.
I don’t think they need to do that with Bernau because Crooks is blocking him and I think they know what they have in his talent.

Wetherholt, Bernal - and maybe Baez - fill significant needs of this organization.

JJW won't struggle at Memphis.

Yeah, no need to promote him any further this year, in my opinion. Let him tear up Memphis and leave him there. Maybe a September call up, but I think they're fine leaving him in AAA the rest of the year. We already have a logjam in the middle infield. Unless we end up trading some guys, not much use in throwing another log into the mix.

JJ spit time between SS and 2nd in Springfield.
Personally, I would like the majority of his games in Memphis at 2nf base as Winn has SS in the majors . 2nd seems his likely full time spot in majors so give him max reps there IMO.
