Not sure what's wrong with Taillon but if it's serious

Cubs will be looking to add a pitcher at the end of the month probably along with a few other teams. They didn't bring anybody up from the minors. Either they don't have anybody or didn't have the preferred minor league pitcher with proper rest.

Teams that win in October tend to be the ones who still have pitching. Will be interesting to follow.

Sneak attack - give them Mikolas.

They brought up Jordan Wicks. Before the season started, he was projected to challenge for a rotation spot. But, that doesn't change the need for a front line starter and, if anything, it will provide more urgency to fill that need at the deadline.

True. Wicks will be better than using the entire bullpen but they will try to find someone better. If not then they will have an issue.

I guess the current direction is to use Flexen (5-0 with a 0.83 ERA in a limited role) and keep Wicks in the bullpen in a long relief role. Didn't see that one coming, but it makes sense. Flexen has been a starter in the past.

And throw in Garrett Hampson, he’s got a 0.00 ERA.

Reportedly targeting M/ Keller and we know the Rats' love to hand the scrubbies their players (remember A. Ramirez in his prime?).

Also rumored to be sniffing around M.Kelly if the Dbacks become sellers.

MLB trade rumors says Taillon expected to miss more than a month with calf strain. They also say Marlins may be moving both Alcantara and Edward Cabrera. Cabrera is interesting because Miami has manipulated his service time and he isn't a free agent until 2029. In 78 starts he has an era of 4.11 and his previous control issues seem to have been figured out this season. Certainly would be no worse than Taillon has been this season.

If I was Mozeliak or Bloom or whoever is in charge I'd ask Miami about Cabrera. Affordable. Fills a spot in the rotation. Better than Mikolas or Fedde. Controllable contract.
