Time to see what they have in McGreevy

Past time for the cardinals to let McGreevy start the rest of the season in place of Mikolas to see what they have in him and how he fits for next year.

Continuing to start Mikolas is a waste of time that they could be using seeing some youngster not to mention having a chance to occasionally win a game.

Unless Mikolas goes on the IL, don't expect to see McGreevy in the rotation on a regular basis until after the trade deadline. He will spend the last two months of the season in St Louis.

I don’t know, Rex, but he’s at 110+ now. 67 in AAA and 44 in MLB. I think they will need him in STL in August and September and may want to save his remaining innings for then.

He pitched slightly over 150 last year in both the minors and major leagues. I am assuming they are OK with him going 165 - 175. Probably that limit is the only reason why Mikolas is still here, other than Dewitt can't stand eating money. Of course if he wouldn't hand out contracts that everyone can see are bad from a mile a way, Carpenter, Leake, Fowler and now Mikolas, that wouldn't be an issue.

Yep, I’ve always disliked BDW’s rule that “the contract plays”. Plus, other than McGreevy, Memphis doesn’t really have any MLB-ready starters.

Way, way past time indeed

Either MIkolas' fakes a shoulder/elbow injury and goes on the IL for the season or you DFA him.

After yesterday no POBO/GM in MLB would take him if BDWJr paid 90% of his salary since only contenders would be adding and they'd want nothing to do w/this loser.

McG should've been here from OD and Mikolas gone.

Mo's failures continue to mount and will follow him to his last day here. :x

agree with all ^

as to the thread title...yes, fairly small sample size, but I gotta believe they ALREADY KNOW what they have in McG. They should.
