one of buys should be Pereze from Miami, Pitcher. Young, coming back from injury and is worth maaking a big deal for.

Oh man. Now you went and did it. He would be my #1 target in all MLB for the Cardinals. 21, or 22. Electric.

What would be a “big” deal from Cards position? Who gets traded ?

They are going to want players that are big league ready, but haven't used up any of their service time. Maybe Wetherholt and Mathews. Perez is under team control for 4 years after this one, so I'm not sure they would trade him (yet) under any circumstances. They can ride him for 2 years at low cost and get as much for him then as now.

If that's what it took, I'd say no. Mathews has the potential of being as good as Perez. Will Perez ever be as good as he was in 2023? To me, too much risk both ways on just those two without JJ.

While I don't think Mathews will be as good as Perez, I wouldn't do it either. If we had a deeper farm system maybe it would be different. I think we have a good farm system, but I wouldn't call it deep- yet.
