it was a needed signing...Memphis rotation was in shambles. Rom, Robberse, Bedell on the IL. Mathews had just returned from the IL and Graceffo/McGreevy were shuttling back and forth between AAA/MLB. He's not there to break into the big leagues, he's there to save the other pitchers around him, mainly the BP from ruining their arms.

It's a signing 29 other GM's will make time and time again when presented with this scenario.

Oh I fully understand why he was signed, just having some fun poking Mo and his back alley c r a p pickups while I can.
