I don't want them to trade Maton, but since he will be a FA at the end of the season, I think they will trade him. Hey if Maton would assume the closer role, and do well, would his value rise significantly from being the eighth inning set up to closer. I don't think the Cards are going to do a lot at the deadline. I don't see them trading Helsley or Maton, unless we fall way out of contention. If we are in the playoff conversation, I think both will be Cards. (As they should! You don't punt with the playoffs on reach, period.) I can see them adding a bullpen piece or possibly looking to add a guy with some control left for some of our surplus pieces (C, middle IF, and possibly OF).
