Does JJW promote to AAA for July and forward?

56 games already at AA.
.888 OPS. What else does he have to prove there?

Multiple of his draft class are already in the majors. No one is saying to move him to STL...yet. But AAA? With June over and the season halfway done, it seems like its time. Also Fermin is in STL so not blocking him at SS/2b.

I’m assuming he’s in the Futures Game and at the latest would head straight to Memphis from there.

I'm looking forward to Burleson, Donovan, Church and Wetherholt being in the Cardinals lineup at the same time. All four are very good hitters.

It would probably be better for him to get more games at AAA than AA since the
.888 isn't telling anyone that he's struggling there.

Saw on Twitter today that since June 1 he's slashing .362/.506/.536 with 18 BB to 13 Ks. I think AAA has to be coming up soon.

Makes sense.

AAA for the rest of the year and then has a shot to make the club in 26.

Nice post, guy. Why are you even on here? Clicked to read about J.J. and garbage like this is what I read. Perhaps I should whine to the moderator about it???

Now if you have anything to share about J.J.....

I look for JJ to be in Memphis for two months .. July & August .. then in September , the Cardinals promote him to The Show so he gets a taste of major league pitching. No different when Cards brought up Masyn Winn. JJ can have a maximum of 130 at bats without losing his rookie status for 2026. When not getting a start here and there, he can be utilized as LH pinch hitter in a game and also a pinch runner. late in a ball game too.

The truth is we are jammed up with capable infielders. The root cause is not dealing Arenado. I feel Ike some trades are coming that will address this. Not sure if by July 31 or in off season. Regardless JJ needs to play every day at a level that challenges him. It will be interesting to watch the moves coming.

This isn't a Burleson thread as bad as you want it to be

I'd move him up now, as mentioned there's nothing left to prove at AA. He's also not that young of a prospect, it's not like he's fresh out of high school and will be overwhelmed.

he's ready

I can definitely see this happening. It would be a great experience for him, too, as we hopefully will be in the playoff hunt. I’m a fan of calling up a prospect late in the year that you know could be starting the next season so that they get the early taste and also know what to work on during the offseason to get themselves better prepared for the next year.
