That gesture speaks volumes about the type player Sonny Gray is . He knew that ball would mean more to Pages than if he kept it himself.

In the post game interview he said the base hit was the only time he shook Pages off all night. Might be an exaggeration but a nice gesture nonetheless.

Probably the best game by a Cardinals pitcher at least as far back as when Shelby Miller gave up a lead off single to the Rockies then sent the next 27 batters down in order. I want to say that was in 2012 or 2013. I know Wacha and Miles each had near no hitters in that time frame as well.

Got to see it up and close in person here in Cleveland tonight. Sonny was absolutely phenomenal. A lot of the Cleveland fans around us gave him his props and the Cleveland postgame even shouted him out and gave him his due before the postgame fireworks show. It was a phenomenal performance
