Evander Kane has been traded to Vancouver, his agent Dan Milstein confirms, but he says Canucks/Oilers still waiting on official trade call with the league.
Three teams were interested, Milstein says. Kane goes back home to Van which was the player's preference.

Trade details:

To #Canucks:
Evander Kane

To #Oilers:
OTT 2025 4th Round Pick

No salary retained, Edmonton clears $5.125 million off the books.
Instead of McDavid I should have put Bouchard because I'm sure they'll announce his extension soon

Yeah this isn't even for McDavid. His new contract would start next year and Kane's deal was over by then. This is just so they can keep Bouchard and still have some cap room to work with.

The Oilers had just under $12M in cap space to start the off-season. Frederic, reportedly, is signing for just under $4M. Bouchard is, "reportedly", looking for $10M or so. The Oilers had to do a move like this just to keep those two and fill out the last couple of roster spots, and Kane was the only salary big enough to do it (excluding Hyman, and RNH who, I'm sure they didn't want to trade).

They are also clearing cap space for John Gibson. They still need to unload that ridiculous Arvidsson contract especially given the anchor that is Jack Campbell on buyout.

See if I'm Anaheim and am looking to make the playoffs this year, I'm not sure I'd be getting rid of Gibson, especially to a rival who could potentially keep me out of the playoffs.

Yep. Like I said I'm sure the Bouchard extension gets announced soon. Odds are they had a number in mind and this gets them there.

Yeah they will have to move one more salary if they want to upgrade in net. Arvidsson has a full NMC though... 8O

Blues trade for Ekholm...Blues trade Kyrou for another Dman we'd have:

Parayko, Broberg, Ekholm, Kyrou's return, Fowler, and Tucker...you move Leddy and Faulk.

apparently they want demko too, but if that were the case, ud think it would be included in the kane deal. also, ud think that would signal a rebuild for the nucks. and hughes would be out then too. all speculation i guess.

How does this make Vancouver better? This feels like they really are going back to a rebuild. The Hockey Guy is going to be despondent over this one. lol

He looked good.most the playoffs and the contract isnt that bad. He honestly looked better after sitting out all year than he did last year. He just had burned a lot of bridges before edmonton

I think Vancouver regrets trading Miller. Their star Player makes Kyrou look tough by comparison.
They need some heart and guts.
Kane is not one of my favorite players, but I get it.
