I've been on the sign Kyle Tucker (if the Cubs don't extend him) bandwagon basically since he became a Cub. It makes a lot of sense, but I just don't see ownership going after a top FA like Tucker.

We are in an announced reset. There has to be a reason to reset. Once all assets are in place, they can buy. This should be this off season.

As for never making that big splash, well it shows. We saved all this money for a reason. My thoughts it to spend on two big names. If saving the money for any other reason, wrong move.

Great player, would love to see him on the Cardinals - but with the contract he will get, he is bound for LA or NYC.

How much will the potential work stoppage effect signing FA's to big money this coming offseason?
Can a team insure against that risk reasonably?

Cardinals are adverse to putting too many eggs into one basket.

We all know and say that. But in order for a team to break the high contract hold that LAD and NY have, they gotta just do it.

And, it’s not like he is a high risk player. Chances are you will get a reasonable return of his service.

Solves right field.

It’s a no brainer in the management world.

One egg. Sign a top of rotation starter next season. Reset done. Power house.

That’s no more than a dream. The Cards will never outbid the big market teams for a FA. Position player or pitcher.

Trade for Alcantara?

Just yesterday you told a poster he couldn't know the Cards wouldn't make such a move.

Can't beat landing Tucker but Cards don't seem to play bidding wars. I think they'll repurpose some of that saved payroll...but surprised if that much. KT wants the long-term deal that will mostly play out on the wrong side of 30 and some estimates have him getting near Vlad Jr and Soto $$.

Has a good athletic build so might age better than other power hitting OFers, but I think Cardinals are commited to developing or trading for the next stud OFer and MAYBE still have a sliver of hope for JW. At least the boys are winning and providing some good entertainment while we wait it out.

I would like to add...I hope I'm wrong and you're dream comes true! Tucker would be awesome.

That would be nice two. If you signed Tucker, traded for A, we would be a NL front runner.

That simple. And both can be had by STL. That’s what this new guy Bloom is for. Refresh.
