Astros general manager Dana Brown candidly indicated yesterday in a radio appearance on SportsTalk 790 AM that he hopes to add a left-handed bat prior to the July 31 trade deadline (link via Chandler Rome of The Athletic). Brown acknowledged that there are other items on his wish list but called a left-handed bat the “big issue.”

-Noot?
-Gorman?
-Burleson?

Wonder what one would bring back?

Thiis is about the level of bat their farm system will fetch right now.

On a more serious note, Matt Koperniak or Cesar Prieto might be bats they could come up with prospects for.

If they want a bat that eliminates noot

Noot: 13 2B 9 HR 31 RBI
Burleson: 11 2B 8 HR 30 RBI
Gorman: 8 2B 4 HR 18 RBI

I guess it eliminates all 3 then

And I know some are really down on Noot at this moment but for his career he's 111 OPS+ hitter (Burly & Gorman: career 101 OPS+ hitters), solid OF'er, good teammate and has two years of control left.

He'd bring back a solid prospect.

Yep, he would. And teams that like the EVs and everything would still be all over Noot. He’s still got a really good EV (92 mph), hard hit % (52%), zone contact rate. He’s chasing a bit more and his LA is way up (17 vs 7 last year) leading to a 46% FB% which is way higher than past years. Some team would probably love to have him. IMO I’m not sure we’re willing to part with him yet and I’m not sure we really should, yet.

Exactly. I'm not a strong Noot fan, but he does have a career .760 OPS. He has enough of a track record that he will typically rise or fall to that level over time. It's easy to be down on him right now, but he will level out. There is defintely a market for Nootbaar if the Cardinals want to explore it.

He's still and always has been a statcast star, you're right teams will still have a lot of interest given even now there's something there metrics wise.

I'm in no hurry unless the offer is really good.

It doesn’t mean nothing to me.

Career OPS
Nootbaar: .760
Burleson: .729
Gorman: .730

Entering June Nootbaar had a better OPS this season than Burleson by 30 points. Burleson has had a really nice run.
