Erick Fedde (TB)

The Cardinals should definitely trade Erick Fedde. Many have argued that this should have been done last winter. Well, they didn’t. He is less valuable now, but not without value. Most contenders could use a solid starting pitcher. Fedde’s cost is not high and that increases the number of suitors.
My suggestion is to trade him to the Minnesota Twins for Andrew Morris. The Twins have had very good pitching so far, but recently had Pablo Lopez go on the IL for 8-12 weeks followed by starting pitcher Zebby Matthews also going to the IL. Fedde would be a perfect stopgap for them. According to Baseball Trade Values, they have very similar values.
Andrew Morris is a 6’0 195 lb right-handed starting pitcher. He is 23-years-old and presently pitching at AAA. His fastball averages 94 mph and can crank as high as 97. He has excellent control. He tossed 133 innings last year. It could be that he could slot directly into Fedde’s spot in the rotation.

1) Erick Fedde to the Twins for Andrew Morris.
2) Erick Fedde and Phil Maton to the Padres for Humberto Cruz and Francis Pena.
3) Erick Fedde to the Red Sox for Nelly Taylor and Dalvinson Reyes.
4) Erick Fedde to the New York Yankees for Ben Hess.
