I don't think the Cards need to get into a Trade War with the Phillies. It would wind up being a massive overpay to outbid them...or we take on all of his salary, which we're not doing.

If they want to give him away and pay some salary, sure. But I wouldn’t be giving up a lot for him. And in the past their asking price for him has been sky high.

How about offering Gorman if they take on a considerable amount of Robert's salary. The Cards do have Wetherholt and Saggese coming along.

at this time, this trade makes no sense for the Cardinals

and no one is blocking Wetherholt, when it is his time to be in the majors, they'll find a home for him.

Saggese on the other hand, if they want to give him a full time job, they'll have to make room. But not this way

He has been in the majors 6 seasons has hit more than 14 homeruns just once, driven in more than 50 runs just twice doesnt get on base and is hitting .190 right now not to mention he cant stay on the field and the white sox want a lot for him. Pass uber pass on that guy.

No. There is no reason to. I've always thought we should have signed him initially. That seemed smart for a while- a little less so now. If the Cardinals want him, he will be available to be signed again this winter.

Other than opening up a potential spot on the infield. Then move Arenado before next season and it leaves Donovan, Saggese and Wetherholt at 2B and 3B.

Eesh just looked at his numbers... Gorman actually looks like a better bat going forward, he was at least able to bring his K-rate under 30% and he has a better OPS both this year and last.

Even with his struggles it’s hard to imagine a team declining his team option for next year. Now if he has another year like that next year then probably, but I don’t think they’d just let him go for nothing, too young/talented.

the Return for the Cards makes zero sense. You don't get into a Trade War with the Phillies for a bad player, costing us several good prospects. Find your avenue elsewhere.
