Fairly soon. The Cardinals need more hitters like Wetherholt and Saggese are capable of being. Wonder what the plan is. Could one end up in the outfield?

JJ will get every opportunity to win a starting infield job, maybe as soon as next spring. He and BD need to figure out who can make the long throws from 3B. The other one will go to 2B. Sags may be our super-ute for 2026, unless he is bundled into a trade package with pending free agents to bring back young outfielders or pitchers.

Make room? Barerro is doing next to nothing here. Just another placeholder.
Still though, we need OFers. Maybe Sagesse gets traded for someone valuable.

This has really been discussed many times. I’m quickly realizing why many criticize those who start topics on a constant basis. But to respond. There is a glut of infield players primarily due to the Arenado situation. You can’t bring these guys up and not play on a consistent basis. You could but it would be foolish. You can’t just reposition them to the outfield. That is an off season and spring training transition.
This is also a reason you may see one of these guys traded.

Saggese has trouble throwing from 3B. That loopy throw has nothing behind it. Putting him in the OF would be a huge mistake. Noodle arm
but...we've covered this over and over again with the topic starter.

Seriously, why do you talk about the same topic like every day or every other day? This thing is discussed on the board many times. Talking about it every other day isn’t going to change anything.

What I'm saying is. The Cardinals need as many really good, consistent hitters in the lineup as possible. Also keeping defense in mind. Right now, this is a tricky situation for the Cardinals. That being said, how could you get Donovasn, Herrera, Burleson, Saggese and Wetherholt all in the lineup at the same time? A long with Winn and Contreras.

Let's see you bring up some better topics then.

Rather than OPs. I see more comments from him on topics that others originate.

Why? Donovan puts up Sagasse numbers in the Show not AAA and Whetheholt has done nothing at AAA. Neither one is putting up monster numbers like Gorman when he got called up. If the plan is to develop than develop the farm system. Keep those guys down there to up the farm rankings, invite them to spring training and let them all fight it out for the spots available. The team needs to field teams at Memphis and Springfield too. Nothing wrong with high quality depth.

LOL
The topic has been beaten death!
But.....to summarize AGAIN:
2026 will continue to be an evaluation season.
Patience!
2025- Continue to evaluate who stays and who goes?
This includes Walker, Gorman,Burleson, Scott, etc etc.
Saggese? He’s currently blocked while we evaluate the above list.
Leave him where he is! If the Cards move on from Arenado and/or any of the above it opens up an opportunity for Saggese(likely 2026) and of course Wetherholt.
Now....hopefully we all don’t have to comment on this SAME topic tomorrow?
