Good morning.

You boys got your wish. No rain in St Louis. But how about 96 degrees.

Yep. 92 Friday, 96 Saturday Sunday Monday Tuesday and 93 Wednesday.

This will be the teams first bout with high heat. Reds and Cubs.

Chill.

What will the heat do to a flighted ball. Cards have 68 homeruns, 35 at home.

Check this out- unreal. Cubs have 99 homeruns- 68 on the road. 68!!
That bodes very bad for us.

We give up few homeruns. Something will give.

I have a theory that could be examined statistically, but who's got the time. Goes something like this....

In the stifling heat zone of North America, that initial heat wave affects all teams pretty much the same. But by the time late July and August rolls around teams located in the stifling heat zone and playing in non-domed stadiums have an advantage because they've become more acclimated to it. So, that would St. Louis, Kansas City, Cinci and Texas and maybe Atlanta. Hence LA, San Fran, Milwaukee and the like would find it more taxing to play here during the heat wave.

Then again, I suppose the opposite theory is that teams playing in the stifling heat zone could be worn down by mid-to late-summer by all that heat.

Wonder what the historical won-loss records are for the Cards in July/August and how does that compare to the other months?

You got my point. Gonna be hot, and it’s gonna be all at once. No climitazation. And ball carry. Usually hot weather has SSW winds. Doesn’t the cards outfield wall face east.

There might be something to that. There was an old saying that if pennants were awarded in June the Cubs would be like the Yankees. The Cubs always used to fade in the late summer months, attributed to all those day games they'd play before they installed lights at Wrigley.

That’s a good point. With years of data.

I hate to bum everyone out but there is going to be a heatwave in St. Louis until September 7. This happens every freaking year. First the spring storms and rain. This year it's been exceptional in the amount of destruction, death, flooding, ridiculous rain totals. I mow my yard every other day.

Then we get about 5 days of simply beautiful weather. Mid 70s, low 80s, no humidity, gentle breeze.

Then you look at the long-range forecast and it says 97 and humid every freaking day with a relative humidity of 119%. Look at the long-range forecast on your weather apps. We have reached this stage of the proceedings.

Happy STL summer!

So it's summer in St. Louis. Those numbers aren't that scary.

I never ask for this weather. I hate this time of year here. I'm an odd duck in that I prefer mild down to cold. Can't stand our summers.

Went to college in New Orleans. Spent a summer there. Might be one of the only places on earth (Florida also comes to mind) whose weather is worse than STL in summertime. Just brutal. Wake up, shower, get dressed, go to car or walk to class, immediately need another shower. And then hurricane season starts. Gross.

Nastiest city. I’m here cause I retired with family. They are all gone, just me. I need to move to that perfect climate. Yes I’d never live in Florida.

Yes, the best weather of any place I have ever been. Unfortunately too expensive for most folks to live there.

North Texas here. Ditto.
