What is the latest timetable for JJ ?

Five players from the 2024 draft have now been called up to The Show in 2025 . The latest is Christian Moore by the Angels.
Moore was selected No. 8 immediately after JJ Wetherholt. Jac Caglione , the no. 6 pick just ahead of JJ , was called up by the Royals for the KC/St. Louis series recently at Busch.
Will JJ get called up in September ? Your thoughts .

Moore call up is dumb but this is the Angels MO.
JJ AAA this year for debut next year would be optimal unless a major injury opens the door and need.

Just curious with your timetable.. Do you think he makes the team out of spring training ? If later , what do you anticipate for debut time ? Thanks Old Friend

Yea, that’s a good timetable for JJ. I’m surprised it took so long for the Angels to call up Moore.

Unless the trade deadline becomes far more active than I'd ever anticipate,
I'd expect 2026. Possibly after the OD roster, again trades will have influence.
He'll start when brought up IMO

I don’t think there’s any chance he gets called up this season. He will end the season at Memphis. Next season will depend on what bloom does so they trade arenado and Gorman? They seem to like Donovan at second Winn is the shortstop. They will need a spot to play him before they call him up

A logical point.
The "they" may be a different "they" though.
The team needs 4 OFers, not sure how many I'd say they have.

So… my answer is yes, I think he’s on the opening day roster in 2026. He’s clearly ready for AAA and would probably hold his own in the majors right now, but there isn’t a clear path to playing time and they need to sort that out.
Best case IMO… opening day 3B is Gorman, SS Winn, 2B Wetherholt, LF Donovan (who just stays as super utility playing every day but mostly LF/3B).
Off-season gives Bloom the time to get this in order.

Selfishly I'd like to see him against MLB pitching but it might be best to show some patience. If the season is lost and they bring him up for experience it could backfire. Going 1 for 15 would be a lot to think about the whole offseason. Get him some seasoning in AAA and take a long look in 2026.

It’s kind of nice that we are in a situation where we don’t need to rush him. Winn has SS locked down long term, Donny 2 bags seems to be the guy at second base for the foreseeable future, arenado is still a 2+ WAR player at third base and doesn’t seem to want to leave St. Louis. Until one of those guys gets moved, injured or massively regresses I don’t see the cardinals deciding to call him up until around this time next year at the earliest. Development wise I think he’ll be ready to make the opening day roster next season but there’s no harm in having him dominate in Memphis until his play forces them to call him up.

Where you going to play him on a daily basis?

A September call up is soon enough unless guys like Donovan and Arenado/Gorman go down to injury.

Not sure why people think he won't get a Sept call up. If he continues to excel he should be rewarded with a cup of coffee to rub elbows with the big team. And no he doesn't need to play every day. A few starts is enough.
I don't think that hurts his control so why not?

Normally I’d say September but haven’t they reduced the number of call-ups???
No rush!
