Since Walker has been out.

Good morning.

3-8.

He hasn’t played since 31 May. Since 30 May, the beguine of the IL stint, the Cardinals defense has given up 74 runs. And that is with two shutouts and a one run game. That’s correct. In the other ten games, 74 runs, over 100 hits!!!

Since Walker left. How much bad action has happened in right field- doubles triples and advanced runners.

Who would have thought JW and just his defense would be sorely missed.

Here is one reason of our recent skid. Bad right field defense.

Good point, Dog. If I squint just right, Alec Burleson reminds me of Joe Hague in the OF. I remember Jack Buck saying of Joe Hague once that he makes spectacular catches on routine fly balls.

145 hits given up plus 30 walks in 13 games- 145 hits!!

That’s 117 innings pitched with an average of 1.5 baserunners per 117 innings. Who sustains that load?

I seem to remember our brilliant manager and medical staff saying that Walker would be back quickly after being placed on the injured list. Once again, the incompetence of these people shine through as he has been out a lot longer than expected.

yes walker being out is the reason for the recent slide...is this a serious post?

The good news is the injury has shown us how valuable his defense has become. That’s a plus. Just think, when he hits , maybe a cornerstone in right.

Not the reason. Everybody breaks down plays. Him being out has hurt our defense. With our staff and fragility any run given away is serious.

Yes Walker being out has contributed. As has Donovan. Same time.

I'd respectfully point out that Walker had 11 RBI in his last 15 games. He was beginning to produce, both at the plate and in the field.
No, he's not the reason for the recent slide...but it sure hasn't helped, either.

Exactly. His presence in these games, maybe a catch of a ball that fell, maybe holding a runner at third stead of scoring, something anything better than we recieved.

Might have won another game. I’ll take it.

What he said. Defense was the strength, not pitching or offense. Defense made the pitching look better than it is. Not the same rally stopping machine w/o Donovan and Walker. More like an invitation to opponents to swing freely and just put it in play knowing something will drop or get through.

Isn't Walker on rehab? In any event, predicting injury returns isn't in a manager's job description.

I’d agree. Never so apparent until it’s missing . Don’t know what u got, till it’s gone.

With respect I’m not sure that is a top 5 reason for skid.

Fair. What would top five be. That wasn’t influenced by poor defense.

You don’t think we have had sub par RF defense, that might lead to a run then a lose. I bet we win one of these games on better RF defense.
