Buying and selling

Post by imadangman »

The best thing this deadline would be to find some type of deal that helps the rest of this season and next year. They are going to be in the race. I think the DeWitts and Mozeliak would both have an interest in trying to win but they aren't going to flip big prospects.

They may still accomplish shedding Arenado. Could open a spot at 3B to slide Wetherholt in if he is on track. Calling up a prospect like that is one thing if you're out of it. It's another thing if you're in a pennant chase. It could spark the team. It could be good for the team and player.

The type of deal they should be making would be something similar to the Lackey deal back in 2014 because they got a starting pitcher with another year of control. Maybe a piece like Nootbaar would fall off for a similar trade target, but I don't know who it would be. Maybe you could get Sandy A. Anyways, you can already see the need would be starting pitching.

I don't know about Helsley seems like he should have been shopped already.

I agree with most of Your premise. I do not, however think that outfield is the place to trade from. We are as thin in the outfield as we are in pitching, maybe thinner. I think we should deal from a position of strength, like catcher. I also think that all of our pending free agents should be considered for trade.
