Needs to be demoted out of closer.
Time to scrap the Hels Bells entrance he stole from Trevor Hoffman anyway.

Has a hard time when leading only by 1. Needs 2 or more run lead to get a save.

Now that he is no longer dominating, we have to continue to let him pitch in hopes he gets better so we can get more than a bag of balls for him at trade deadline!

Yep. A pobo worth a grain of salt would've dealt the free agent to be during a reset year.

A few well informed posters have advocated giving him a big money extension.

What was the offer they should have taken?

Don’t be obtuse, you know there were trades to be made if they tried.

Hopefully he’s not injured, just needs some rest.

But I maintain that most closers have about a 3-year effective life (of course there’s notable exceptions). But Helsley is tracking that line.

Again, you’re being obtuse, ignoring the fact the we as fans do not know what was offered. Why ask for something you know someone can’t provide?

“But he will bring more from desperate teams at the deadline!”

Said numerous dumb people.

Helsley has 13 saves of his 18 opportunities. Only 4 N.L closers have more saves.
Of the closers in baseball available , he still will have suitors at the deadline.
