Probably Be Sorry I Mentioned This

Carlos Duran has been DFA'd by the Athletics. If Matt Pierpont and his pitching department feel like they can work with this guy as a project he would be interesting. He has spent most of his season at AAA for the Athletics. He is a 6'7" 230 lb 23 year old right hander. He has a 95-98 mph fastball and his scouting report says before his TJ surgery in 2023 he had what was considered by many to be the best slider in the minor leagues. He recently made one appearance for the Athletics and it did not go well. He has been a starter, but with that build and those two pitches, I could see him in the bullpen. To me, he would be an interesting flyer. You don't do it if you don't have room at Memphis. You don't do it if he costs much of anything. You don't do it if the pitching department doesn't think they can work with him. If you can clear these bars- why not give it a try? How much rougher could it be than the Roycroft experience?
