He has not been very good this year and I’m sure his trade value is a lot worse than it was

I hate the Royals. Not sorry. Have to live among a bunch of those yappers and they are bad and obnoxious when they beat the Cardinals.

I know the pain all too well, and I'm only in Columbia. Kansas City folk are the worst. At least Chicago is capable of being put in their place. Kansas City-ans will act like they won the world series after one win.

85 was the worst experience of my life with being a Cards fan. As you know a lot of the old timers were Cardinal fans long before the Royals came around, even before the KC Athletics. One old guy that was a diehard Cardinal fan waited till about November, then drove to Iowa and knocked on Don Denkinger's door. When he came to the door he asked him "how could you make that call". Then turned around, hopped in his pickup and drove back to Vernon County. Total of about 300 mile round trip.

Agreed.

I can't stand it when I see St. Louis Chiefs fans, and they are everywhere these days. Like seriously, you know KC people hate St. Louis sports teams, right? It's all such a weird dynamic.

Whereabouts are you from, Midmo?

I don't know who that guy is, but I'll happily have a beer in his name. That's Lord's work in my book.

Funny story. I'm a little too young for '85--wasn't born yet--but my father being the St. Louis boy that he was drummed in a healthy dislike of Kansas City in me. Flash forward to about 2002 or so. We're living in Columbia, and the bathroom was the first door off our living room. I'd just come home from playing little league and I was taking a shower. I guess TWIB or whatever baseball program on the TV was playing a thing on the '85 series and it came to the Denkinger call. I'm in the shower, so all I hear is "OWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW" repeatedly. My first thought is that my old man's hurt, but my mom and my sister were home, so I wasn't going to hurry out of the shower to see what happened. I got out, and I asked what happened.

Mom says "Your father watched a replay of '85 again."

From the direction of the living room, I hear "OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT! OUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT!"

Don't get me started on that. One, even when the Chiefs sucked, I hated the Chiefs. I get physically ill when I see someone with a Cards and/or Blues sticker on their car, and that godforsaken Chiefs logo. That gets on the fighting side of me.

And I will NEVER forget how the same Royals fans I know actively rooted against St. Louis in '06/'11/'13 in the Series clutched pearls that I actively rooted against the Royals (yes even for the Mets). "But we're a Missouri team! We rooted for you!"

Yeah, my eye, they did. Definitely why my Irish is up a bit right now in these parts. I want nothing but complete domination of anything Kansas City.

I'm 68 years young and I lived through the two biggest heart breaks in life.......'68....up 3-1 to the Tigers and '85. I have to be honest though. KC totally outplayed us in 1985 in that Series. We were, no doubt, the much more talented team. We just played horrible. Enough of that. I live less than an hour from KC and, through the last 3 decades when we have owned the Royals.....I never say a word to their fans. I'm not like that. And the minute they win against us.....they start ribbing me. I hate Royals fans!

Ditto. It's not like any of those guys are going to return high ranking prospects in a trade. The Cards are still in play to win the Central. Why cash out?

Kansas City fans are literally the lowest of the low. Worse than Chicago.

I have had similar experiences. Some Chicago fans are ok, KC has that Kansas Jayhawk mentality and they do love to rub it in.

I live near Sedalia. Used to live near Nevada. lots of Cardinal fans around both, but they are getting older and some dying off. KMOX was the reason for so many Cardinal fans all over Western MO and all of Kansas.
