no, the morons at Busch stadium are the worst.

You always watch the OF, his first move tells you how hard it was hit. fans cheering, and it's not even to the warning track.

I don't know about that. People rave about John Rooney as a broadcaster on the radio. Yet, I watched a few games on tv with the sound off since the Cardinals TV broadcasters were viewed as so bad and had Rooney on the radio. One issue with that is that the radio broadcast occurs before the play. But, the worst part about it was about 50% of the time, the way Rooney described the play had nothing to do with what actually happened. As a result, I simply cannot listen to him because it is not credible.

Alcohol is a factor with fans.

Yep you watch the OF'er.

That's basic broadcasting 101.

As for Rooney. He's technically very good but his inflection on a lot of calls misleads the listener and it's a major turnoff.

Every broadcaster does this to some degree. They are trained to build suspense and to sell the drama of the game. Why does it upset people so much? If you’re so good at telling when a ball in any a homer then don’t you just know Chip is wrong and not worry about it?

No their not "trained" to do either of those things.

That's talent. You either have it or you don't.

Entertaining and injecting energy is different from misleading your audience.

Rooney also has an issue of getting excited when the other team scores.

Couldn’t agree more with the OP. He can also lay off the “ambush” line

I think it depends on whether one wants the broadcaster to be an entertainer/salesman.....

or

an honest, factual reporter

Lighten up Francis

Many of those fans are just there having a good time and know very little about the game behind the game.

When I attend games, I often lose track of the flight on high fly balls hit. It just proves how good Major League players are at judging hard hit balls and high fly outs.

Changing point in last night's game was the play Witt Jr. made at SS. It was just an incredible diving play.

I've said this before, Harry Caray one day called a ball as gone and Javier caught it behind 2nd base. Now Harry had an excuse, he could see and probably a few too many Buds.
