It almost seems like the Cards are throwing games
I know they are not great but it seemed that in the games with the Rangers the Cards gave the Rangers their playbook. Telegraphed pitches.
The last game with the Royals was inexcusable when they left Pallante in when He was clearly done. What gives?

If you really believe the Cardinals are throwing games, it would be a good time to ring up Manfred. After his decision to forgive Rose, he'd probably give the whole team a pass.

Alternative theory.
They aren’t very good.

Yep. But overall happy with the kids making progress. Winn has been great. Scott and Herrera have had stretches wanna see them adjust out of this slump. Walker has shown flashes before injury. Noot and Donny are solid complementary pieces to maybe a bit more than that. THe pitching is exactly what we thought and maybe still a little better than expectations

I think they struggle to deviate from tendencies. Like anytime a cards pitcher has a hitter 0-2, you can guarantee the next two pitches (at minimum) will be nowhere close to the strike zone. I think that pattern costs our pitchers several two strike hits. The point being, once a team figures us out, we are slow to adjust.

I think other teams have talent. But that's just me.

Here’s one- how many times do our pitchers get to 0-2 and eventually lose the hitter to a walk or hit. That must change. The same mentality that got you 0-2 must be maintained.

When it comes to Pallante as much as I don't care for Marmol he's between a rock and a hard place there.
He's got a 5-run lead and the hits are coming rapid fire and Pallante until then was pitching well. Hardly enough time to get someone in the BP ready and at least for me as a manager with a team facing a major stretch of consecutive games you can't ask the bullpen to get 10-12 outs every night. That happens and the BP will be toast by mid-August.
I for one have said the starters need to go longer for that very reason so I'm not going to play hypocrite and criticize Marmol for letting him trying to pitch out of it.

Great perspective. Pallante was killin from innings 2-5, until the hiccup. Here was an out away from 5 IP at two runs. He’s a number five.11WSChamps wrote: ↑06 Jun 2025 08:19 amWhen it comes to Pallante as much as I don't care for Marmol he's between a rock and a hard place there.

Five straight hits is strong, need to see if any were off the sane pitch and location. Needs to watch film of himself.

Re: It almost seems like the Cards are throwing games
Yes, my family and I were driving in the New Mexico desert where they shot the landing. As Neil Armstrong was exiting the spaceship for his first step somehow we were driving our SUV about a block to the rear . We saw cameras and people frantically waiving at us .. We thought they were tourists or maybe a film company. So we waived back .. Over a loud speaker we could hear some guy yelling CUT !! He looked super ticked .
I floored it and got the heck out of there. unfortunately , my wife was so startled too we didn't get any pics or video . Oh well !
Just one small drive by man .. and one giant screw up for movie company !

Watching the Rangers and Royals, two struggling offenses, tee off on some of our starters I wonder if they're tipping pitches or stealing signs from Pages/Pozo?
